Identifying the emptiness and hedonism of fame and fortune was never the real problem, rather fully acknowledging it to the point of seeking a different path is still the real human challenge. When a person is getting paid well while at the same time has an addiction problem, seeking a different path is not an attractive option for obvious reasons. Kerry and Daves' conversion to Christianity was too much for the other members of the band. We all choose our paths in life and must live with the good/bad of the those decisions. I don't necessarily agree with Kerry and Dave's doctrinal perspective on faith and life but fully understand their motivation and respect their decision, acknowledging that the bible does offer truths that cannot be denied. On a final note, it's quite clear that Kerry's visions/observations were the driving force of his creativity ultimately resulting in the band's greatest compositions. Being able to put visions to both words and music is a high-level art form. The lyrics to the opening musical sequence: "Crossfire" from 'Vinyl Confessions' was the spiritual apex of the clashing of two worlds that no longer had much in common, thus Steve had already left and Robbie was eyeballing the door also. Sad, because the original lineup had so many ways to incorporate the unique sound (progressive, hard rock, baroque, acousitc, bar band, etc.) contained within their musical palette. Some might disagree, but the Kerry solo material and AD stuff was only partially successful from a musical perspective, but still very respectful from a spiritual glance.

Christian radio stations today need to start playing this and other great classic Christian music from the 80s and 90s. So much of their playlists now all sound the same. People listening to stations today who didn't grow up with exposure to great bands like Whiteheart, Petra, Servant, and so many others of that era have NO idea of the great music that they are missing out on.

The is the “best” version of Kansas. The songs, the vocals, the musicianship. What a time to be alive! I remember it well. 😊

I was saved in 1979 too. I was 22 yrs old. Today Im 67, and I still serve Jesus. I dont call myself a charismatic, but I do agree the gifts of the Spirit are for today. I was told as a child that people like that were holy rollers. But not long after I was saved, I became one. I was saved in an Assembly of God church.

I don't care who's in the band. Being able to see and hear them play their music is a joy! John was the 1st change. And Watren Ham was a great addition on this tour. So here we are in 2024 n only Rich and Phil remain from original band. Still top notch band. What's the alternative? Not being able to see or hear them. No thank you. I like being able to get my Kansas fix.
